I’ve been on the hunt for good garden edging for a while now. I’ve noticed that the lawn keeps creeping into my garden beds and the garden beds keep moving out to the lawn. I get a good shape to things and then in a few months I have no idea where that imaginary line is supposed to be located. When we planned a trip to Legoland with my nieces and nephews I was secretly jumping up and down at the opportunity to finally see Cypress Gardens. What was once a stand alone tourist attraction has now been absorbed into the Legoland theme park in Winter Haven, Florida. I’ve heard about the plant collections in these gardens for years and I was looking forward to experiencing myself. According to Wikipedia, “Cypress Gardens opened on January 2, 1936 as a botanical garden planted by Dick Pope Sr. and his wife Julie. Over the years it became one of the biggest attractions in Florida, known for its water ski shows, gardens, and Southern Belles.” It changed hands several times, finally closing in 2009.… Read Full Post

Caladiums are one of my favorite plants for the garden and a big part of that is because of how easy planting caladiums can be. Caladiums are grown for their beautiful, large colorful leaves that pop up in the spring and last until October. Planting caladiums is easy to do and I hope the following encourages you to get some caladiums growing in your garden this year! Tuber or Plant? Caladiums are purchased in one of two forms: as tubers still waiting to grow, or as plants that already have leaves and will make an instant impact. I almost always buy tubers to plant in our garden.
